Chinese battery cell manufacturer Gotion High-Tech, whose largest shareholder is Volkswagen, has apparently abandoned its plans to build a factory in the US state of Michigan. The plan was announced in 2022 and had been subject to heavy criticism as residents alleged environmental risks and politicians objected to the company’s supposed proximity to the Chinese government.
