GM’s Ultium EV platform is finally starting to pick up speed. The latest report by the company reveals EV sales are still a small fraction of the company’s total sales volume – this quarter, companies under the GM umbrella delivered 20,094 EVs compared to the 674,336 total sales. And of those 20,094 units, the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV account for 15,835 of the sales. That’s an great performance for a vehicle that’s approaching its end-of-life stage. Xiaomi recently posted some job openings on its official website in China looking for a wide range of engineers. Of particular interest is the listing for engineers working on EREVs as well as people familiar with internal combustion systems, air intake and exhaust systems. Tesla launches a cheaper Model Y RWD option in the US
Shortly after Tesla us dropped the base AWD Model Y option from its configurator, the company adds a rear-wheel drive option that’s $3,750 cheaper. It starts at $43,990 and when you apply the full tax credit of $7,500, the actual asking price goes down to $36,490. Some believe that Tesla is using Lithium-iron-Phosphate (LFP) batteries, which are cheaper to produce than Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) cells. BYD’s Q3 report: 824,000 NEVs sold, BEV sales match Tesla
BYD wrapped up Q3 with an impressive sale of 824,001 new enegry vehicles of which 431,603 pure electric passenger vehicles. This represents a whopping 52.4% of its total sales for the period. Tesla, in the same stretch, reported 435,059 pure electric car sales. So even if you discount the various EREVs and PHEVs that BYD makes its sales are already matching the American company’s. EV sales are 49% up, China still far ahead of Europe

Following a warning earlier on, Tesla now published its Q3 financial report and the numbers are below expectations. The warning caused analysts’ estimate to vary greatly – from 440,000 to 490,000 units. However the actual number was even below the bottom end of that range.
