Altilium receives UK government funding for battery material recycling

UK-based battery firm Altilium has received government funding to begin rapid prototyping of lithium-ion EV battery pouch cells using recycled cathode active materials (CAM). The company has received a grant of £639,797 ($798,114) from Innovate UK’s Faraday Battery Challenge, part of a £1.5-million funding round for UK battery developers. It will produce the cells at… Read more…

Is your gigafactory ready for summer?

Sponsored by Munters. As the electric vehicle (EV) market continues to grow gigafactories are multiplying across the globe. These enormous production facilities, tasked with producing the batteries that power EVs, represent a crucial hub of innovation. However, beyond the scorching summer temperatures that dominate headlines, gigafactories face a hidden enemy: rising humidity. The hidden challenges… Read more…

Daimler Truck continues to choose Proterra battery technology for electric school buses and delivery vehicles

Proterra’s August bankruptcy filing sent a shock wave through the EV industry, partly because several EV builders depend on Proterra’s well-respected battery technology. Fortunately, the Volvo Group quickly snapped up the company’s battery business, and it appears that business as usual will continue. Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) has announced plans to use Proterra’s battery… Read more…

ENNOVI introduces automotive-grade stackable connector platform

Singapore-based EV components manufacturer ENNOVI has introduced a new ENNOVI-MB2B multi-row board-to-board (BTB) connector platform for EVs with a snap-in design that allows multiple connector units to be stacked together without solder. This approach enables different pin count requirements to be accommodated via the same basic interconnect platform, without any extra expense or engineering effort,… Read more…

Mullen Automotive scores $150 million in new capital, will put Bollinger B4 into production

We’ve been fans of Bollinger Motors since we interviewed founder Robert Bollinger back in 2018. We wrote at the time that his company’s rugged, no-nonsense electric work trucks should find a lot of buyers, if the company could navigate the shoals that have wrecked most of the EV startups. Bollinger’s 2022 acquisition by Mullen Automotive… Read more…
