SeNSE battery cell prototypes show improvements


Empa, the Swiss federal laboratories for materials science and technology says its four-year EU project SeNSE, led by eleven teams from research and industry, made “significant improvements” in batteries for electric cars. The researchers say the prototype lithium-ion cells developed are more sustainable, safer, and have a higher energy density, although not as stable as desired. Read more…

TV documentary casts doubt on Northvolt’s ‘green batteries’


According to research by Swedish television, the insolvent battery cell manufacturer Northvolt has hardly any batteries in circulation so far. Furthermore, those batteries that have already been installed are said to contain none of the Swedish company’s own cathode active material. Altilium & Talga Group cooperate on recylced graphite for EV batteries


UK recycling specialist Altilium has signed a letter of intent with Australian battery materials company Talga Group to supply Talga with up to 16,000 tons of recycled graphite over a three-year period from 2026. Talga is building Europe’s first anode refinery for natural graphite in Sweden and is developing an anode product made from recycled graphite. Read more…
