BASF begins production of black mass in Germany
BASF has successfully commissioned its black mass production plant in Schwarzheide, Brandenburg. The German plant is one of the largest commercial black mass plants in Europe, with an annual processing capacity of up to 15,000 tons of spent lithium-ion batteries and production scrap. Following an export ban on rare earths, China is now approving deliveries only with export licenses. The first exports appear to be taking place.
