2024 Volkswagen ID.4 gets improved EPA range rating

Earlier this year, Volkswagen unveiled plans for the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4, boasting an 82-kilowatt-hour battery pack that promised more power and, most importantly, increased driving range. The standout feature of this upcoming model is the introduction of a new rear drive unit rated at a remarkable 210 kilowatts, a significant improvement over the previous 150-kilowatt unit. EVs dominate European car of the year awards

The European Car Of The Year 2024 contest is in its final stage as the finalists have been announced. And the list is absolutely dominated by EVs with 5 out of the 7 contenders, plus the BMW 5 Series which comes in both EV and ICE flavors.

So out of the 7 finalists, 6 are available as EVs. We have the BMW 5 Series, BYD Seal, Kia EV9, Peugeot E-3008/3008, Renault Scenic, Toyota C-HR and the Volvo EX30. The Toyota C-HR is the only car with a BEV variant, but it’s still a hybrid.

The BYD Seal is interesting as a Chinese-made vehicle among the top 7 is news on its own.

Mercedes opens its first own-brand charging hub in Europe

Today Mercedes proudly announced the opening of its first own-branded charging hub in Europe. This follows similar hubs that have recently opened in Atlanta, Georgia, in the USA, as well as Chengdu and Foshan in China.

The first Mercedes charging hub in Germany is located at the Mercedes subsidiary in Mannheim, in the Rhine-Main-Neckar region, one of the country’s most important transport corridors.
