Nio to unveil new ES8 later this month, official launch set for Nio Day 2025 in Sept
Nio will hold a product and technology event for the third-generation ES8 in late August, with display vehicles available at stores at that time.
The third-generation ES8 will be officially launched at the Nio Day 2025 event in late September and will begin deliveries shortly thereafter.
Nio Onvo begins L90 deliveries; test drive cars increased to 1,000
Onvo conducted the first deliveries of the L90 in 44 cities across China today.
The number of vehicles available for test drives has been increased by 400, reaching a total of 1,000, to reduce waiting times.

Nio Onvo launches L90 flagship SUV with make-or-break pricing
The Onvo L90 starts at RMB 265,800 ($36,940) including the battery pack, with aggressive pricing clearly indicating Nio’s high hopes for the model.
Deliveries of the six-seat L90 will begin on August 1, while the seven-seat version will start deliveries in late September.
BYD Yangwang begins pre-sales of U8L SUV, starting at $180,700
The Yangwang U8L is priced from RMB 1.3 million ($180,700) for pre-sales, higher than the U8’s starting price of RMB 1.098 million.
The U8L is a longer version of the U8 and one of the most expensive models available in China from a domestic automaker.

CATL has built over 400 swap stations for passenger cars
CATL said that the goal of reaching 1,000 battery swap stations for passenger vehicles by the end of this year is achievable.
CATL currently has about 100 battery swap stations for heavy-duty trucks, with plans to expand to around 300 by year-end.
BYD launches lower-priced Yuan Up variant without smart driving capabilities
The new Yuan Up variant starts at RMB 74,800 ($10,400), a 25 percent reduction from the previous entry-level variant.
The new variant’s range has been reduced from 401 km to 301 km, and it does not come with an smart driving system, suggesting a shift in BYD’s strategy.

Sunwoda is one of China’s largest EV battery makers, with clients including Li Auto, Xpeng, Leapmotor, and SAIC.

From July 1 to 27, China’s total passenger vehicle retail sales were 1.445 million units, up 9 percent year-on-year, but down 19 percent month-on-month.
So far this year, China’s cumulative retail sales of passenger NEVs reached 6.258 million units, up 31 percent year-on-year.
