Lightweight and flame-resistant thermoplastics for fire safety in electric cars


Protecting electric car batteries against fire is crucial to the success of these vehicles. There is particular concern about thermal runaway. A new Quantix® ULTRA material class from Freudenberg Sealing Technologies significantly improves fire protection in electric vehicle drives: The thermoplastics made from this material can withstand temperatures of up to 1,200 degrees Celsius. The ability to process the material in injection molding makes it both versatile and economical.
