ABI Research: tech advances to drive six-fold increase in EV battery production by 2030


New research from global technology intelligence firm ABI Research finds that global EV battery output production could increase by nearly six times to 2,585 GWh by 2030. Toyota’s much hyped solid-state batteries will only be produced in limited quantity

Toyota shared its ambitious plans to produce next-gen and solid-state batteries with extended range back in September, but reportedly, the solid-state batteries will be in short supply initially. The latest report has it only a few thousand units will be produced using the breakthrough technology.

Or maybe “breakthrough” is a bit overstated. Toyota’s plans are to produce two versions of the battery – one with 20% longer range than today’s Toyota EVs (which isn’t much) and one with 50% improvement.
