Volkswagen e-Up! production will cease by the end of the year

Earlier this year, Renault killed the small Zoe EV, and now Volkswagen is getting ready to do the same to its own small EV, the e-Up!. This has seen two generations across its decade-long production run, but its time is now finally Up! (pardon the easy pun). The last e-Up! models will be manufactured at VW’s plant in Bratislava, Slovakia, at some point before the end of this year. After that, there will be no more e-Up! Xiaomi patents a wireless charging concept for EVs

Xiaomi filed a new patent related to EV wireless charging. The patent itself isn’t complete and it’s a bit complex given currently available technology, so don’t expect it to become a reality anytime soon. Putting the Nio ET5 to the test

EV maker Nio is building a unique infrastructure for electric cars in China and Europe, setting up its Power Swap Stations for rapid battery changes. And with the ET5 sedan, Nio is bringing its swap technology to the 50,000 euro segment. But to boil the ET5 down to battery swapping falls far short of the mark.
