Henkel develops REACH-compliant silicone material for sealing electronic component modules


Automotive adhesives maker Henkel has developed a new material for silicone liquid gasketing for automotive electronic components. Loctite SI 5972FC is a one-part RTV silicone form-in-place-gasket (FIPG) solution that expedites electronic module sealing. Toyota thinks it’s a good idea to put a fake manual transmission in an EV


Love it or hate it, Toyota seems to be moving forward with its plan to add a manual transmission simulation to its electric cars, complete with engine revving noise and lots of jerky feels. A new patent application shows a system with up to 14 pseudo gears, to enhance the zero-emissions driving experience and maybe convert some manual-loving drivers over to the EV side. Read more…

Nationwide US charging infrastructure program begins in Ohio


The White House has announced that the first electric vehicle charging station funded by the $7.5 billion U.S. government program has begun operating in Ohio. Next up are charging stations in Vermont, Pennsylvania, and Maine where installation has begun.
