Next Jeep Wrangler to be available only as a plug-in vehicle

Fans of Jeeps, with their rugged, noisy, militaristic image, would seem to be unlikely buyers of EVs. But if you look at vehicle performance rather than demographic identity, a different picture emerges. As prolific EV writer John Voelcker recently noted, off-roading is actually an ideal application for EVs. “Maximum torque at extremely low motor speeds,… Read more…

After Toyota did the same last week, this shows how union wins have a tendency to affect entire industries, raising conditions for even non-unionized companies who have to compete for workers. More…
Zeekr 007 official teaser images leave nothing to the imagination

A few days ago Zeekr announced that it’s going to unveil its first ever sedan, the Zeekr 007, on November 17 (a huge missed opportunity to do it on November 7, we think, but anyway, let’s not digress). Today the brand’s official global X account shared the images you can see below, which pretty much give away the entirety of the car’s looks – and we’re not complaining, since it does look stunning. The 007 has LiDAR technology, as is obvious by the sensors sitting up top. This will be the first time a Zeekr features LiDAR, although the popularity of LiDAR in the Chinese EV market has… More…

Bike shop brands are finally giving e-bike riders what they want: throttles

To grossly oversimplify the e-bike market in the US, there are two types of electric bikes: those with hand throttles and those without. Traditional higher-end bike shop brands have long eschewed throttle-enable electric bikes, opting instead for pedal assist designs that only provide helping motor power when the rider also pedals. On the other hand, direct-to-consumer (D2C) e-bike companies have long embraced throttle e-bikes. As D2C brands scoop up more of the growing market, traditional bicycle brands are starting to take note. More…
